TATTOOS IN THE SUMMER
Getting tattooed in the summer takes a little extra care to ensure best healing. Here are my tips for getting tattooed in the summer:
Finalize big plans before scheduling your appointment. Schedule your tattoo for a time where you won’t be traveling or going to the beach directly before or after.
Sunburnt skin cannot be tattooed. Wear sunscreen leading up to your appointment, and reschedule if you get a noticeable burn.
The only water that should touch your fresh tattoo is from a clean faucet. No pool, tub, ocean, lake, etc. for 2 weeks after your tattoo.
Use antibacterial soap. With all the sweat and dirt of the summer, antibacterial soap is highly recommended, twice a day or more for the first 2 weeks.
Hydrate your skin. After cleansing, moisturize with a light lotion or tattoo salve like this one.
Avoid sun on your tattoo for 2 weeks. Ensure it is covered by clothing or a tied bandana when outside.
After 2 weeks, use sunscreen. At this point the skin will still be healing, and may look shiny or scaly, but it should be fully ‘closed.’ Gently wash off sunscreen after use and moisturize to rehydrate the skin.
If you are an ultra-cautious person, it doesn’t hurt to wait 3 weeks instead of 2 for the aforementioned steps.
You can always reach out to me with questions during the healing process, or send a quick pic for a check-in.
FLASH TATTOOS
You can view available flash designs here. I'm always happy to customize a flash design to make it uniquely yours. Most flash designs are repeatable a few times, though large designs will only be tattooed once. I will let you know if the design you are interested in is unavailable.
CUSTOM TATTOOS
To ensure that you will love your custom tattoo, please include:
— A description of the design with as little or as much detail of your vision for it.
— Inspiration/reference photos of tattoos/drawings/things you like. Including a photo of a tattoo done by me to show your preferred style is helpful!
— Bonus: A picture of the location on your body for the tattoo if we will be working with a particular shape or spot.
I do not offer design sketches/previews before appointments. When you arrive for your appointment, we will go over the design in depth and I will make any adjustments necessary to get it just right. For some designs, like botanicals, I may draw part of the design on in person.
PRICING
After receiving your form, I’ll reach out with an estimate and a link to schedule an appointment at the best time that works for you. If the estimate does not work with your budget, please let me know so that we can discuss adjustments to the design or explore other options to make the project work for you.
I love doing trades when I can! I’ve traded for ceramics, quilting lessons, farm shares, etc. Please let me know in the comment box if you’d like to discuss a trade.
Aside from the deposit, I can only accept cash for payment at the studio.
THE STUDIO
The studio is on the first floor and is highly accessible. I cannot tattoo pregnant or breastfeeding people. Please sleep well, eat, and drink water before your appointment, and bring whatever you may need— friends, headphones, snacks, etc.!
DEPOSIT POLICY
If you reschedule your appointment, a $50 rescheduling fee will be deducted from your $100 non-refundable deposit before it is applied to the cost of your tattoo. If you reschedule within 72 hours of your appointment time, your deposit will be forfeited as a cancellation fee.
RESPONSE TIME
I respond to all forms within 2 weeks! If you do not hear from me it means that I may have filled all available appointments at this time.
Thanks for reading, I look forward to hearing from you!
